Staff Update: Calvary The Homestead COVID-19 Outbreak to be Declared Over as of 21 May 2022

Date:  20 May 2022

To:      All Staff – Calvary The Homestead

From: Ryan Midgley, General Manager Aged Care

I am pleased to inform staff that all tested Calvary The Homestead residents have received negative results from the latest round of testing. In line with Public Health Unit advice, we are able to declare the outbreak over from Saturday 21 May 2022, and lift the current visitation restrictions at Calvary The Homestead.

Consistent with Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care, Calvary The Homestead will welcome visitors back into the home from Monday 23 May 2022.

Information for visitors

  • Calvary The Homestead is open to more visitors from 23 May 2022.
  • Visiting hours are between 10.00am and 5.00pm.
  • There is now no limit to the number of visits allowed per resident, per day, however only two (2) visitors are allowed at one time.
  • All visits are to take place in the resident’s room for now.
  • Visitors will be required to complete screening requirements prior to entry and wear appropriate PPE (including face mask and shield) whilst visiting. PPE is provided by Calvary.
  • As a precaution to keeping residents safe, visitors are asked to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) upon entry to the home.

In line with Public Health Unit advice, any residents who contracted COVID-19 can now no longer receive the vaccine at our scheduled vaccination clinic in June. This is due to the three (3) month gap needed from diagnosis of COVID-19 to administration of the vaccine. We will go ahead with the clinic for residents who did not contract COVID-19.

Thank you for all that you have done to ensure our residents continued to receive the safest possible care, with such empathy and compassion over this challenging time. Your hard work is appreciated.

We all look forward to receiving more visitors back into the home.
