Highlander Mountain House Salon Series With Hurray for the Riff Raff
Thursday, September 21 | 8:30pm

Alynda Segarra was born and raised in the Bronx and  moved to New Orleans in 2007 and formed two bands: Dead Man’s Street Orchestra and Hurray for the Riff Raff. In 2015, they decamped to Nashville, then to New York, to make 2016’s critically praised The Navigator, an ambitious and fully realized concept album.

Carnaval de Colores
Friday, September 22 | 5:30-9pm

The International Friendship Center is bringing its 2nd annual Carnaval de Colores to Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park on Friday, September 22nd! The newly-created event serves as the kick-off celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15th - October 15th. The event is meant to shine a light on the Hispanic communities in and around the Plateau.

Artrageous  at Highlands PAC
Friday, September 22  | 7:30 pm 

Artists, using hands, brushes, and other objects, create visual art pieces making lines and shapes on giant canvas’ while the audience is intrigued to guess what each painting will become. Lines and brush strokes become portraits of famous icons in a matter of moments. All the while, live musicians are performing popular musical styles from pop to country with Artrageous’ powerful vocalists creating smooth harmonies.

Cynthia Strain Book Signing at Acorns
Saturday, September 23  | 2-4pm

Join well-known Highlands photographer Cynthia Strain at Acorns on September 23 from 2 - 4 pm for a journey through days gone by. Cynthia will discuss and sign copies of her new, illustrated history book, “Highlands Through The Years,” which is chock full of her own images as well as historic photos and fascinating accounts of local landmarks, events and people.

Empty Bowls
Sunday, September 24 | 11:30am-1:30pm

Every year local restaurants and chefs prepare their best soups to be served alongside the artistry of  area potters, many of whom donate stoneware bowls through The Bascom. Tickets sell for $25, for which individuals receive a hand-turned bowl and a delicious meal.

Forest to Table Dinner at The Mountain
Sunday, September 24 | 4-8pm

Explore the seasonal delicacies found in the wild and the farm fields, understanding how to identify and prepare these wild treats. Enjoy a rustic 4-course Forest-to-Table meal harvested and prepared by our very own farmer-chefs. During dinner guests will have the opportunity to chat with farm staff about farm happenings and browse the many handcrafted products.

Choose the food less traveled at Locally Grown on The Green Market, Cashiers farm stand market for local growers. The market is “producer-only” meaning that the vendor must be the grower or producer of ALL the products they sell. Vendors must produce within a 125-mile radius of Cashiers.
