Welcome to the Community Organisation Support Newsletter from Inclusion Barnet for Barnet Together (23 March).

This week's newsletter is funding galore! Take a look to explore some of the many opportunities available to your organisation.

Barnet Spacehive spring 2023 matched funding Crowdfunding opportunity

If you’ve got a project that transforms a space in Barnet or brings Barnet Communities together, the crowdfunding platform Spacehive might be a great option for you. 

Depending on the project, Barnet Council may pledge up to 50% to your campaign (up to the maximum of £5,000) . The deadline for this round is Wednesday 12 April, visit the Crowdfund Barnet programme for more information.

Spacehive has a team of experts on hand to help you run a great campaign from project support through to verification and fundraising!

Barnet Council's Community Events Funding

Barnet Council’s vision is to make Barnet a ‘Borough of Fun’, where those who live and work have opportunities to enjoy life and celebrate the things that are important to them. Community Groups can apply for up to £1,000 throughout the year to host an event with their community.  To find out more join their Community Event Funding Workshop Tickets, Tue 28 Mar, 11am.

Events in Barnet for the King’s Coronation

In celebration of the Coronation of His Majesty The King Charles III, celebrations will be taking place across the country on Sunday 7 May 2023.  Community groups can now apply for up to £1,000 of grant funding to host an event in celebration of the King’s Coronation.
 

Deadline: Monday 3 April, 12 noon

Partners for Health 2023

Is your charity tackling health inequalities in London?

The London Catalyst's Partners for Health grant programme is now open and offering grants between £3,000 and £15,000 for organisations like yours. 

Successful applicants will be for projects that demonstrate positive outcomes for health equality, a new approach or development of a service, and partnership between health and community organisations.

Deadline: Thursday 1 June 2023

Applications are open for Big Give's Mental Health Match Fund!

All donations to participating charities will be doubled for charities improving mental health as part of their work.

Mayor of London's VAWG Cost of Living Fund

If your organisation is tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG) and supporting them with the cost of living, you can apply to the Mayor of London's VAWG Cost of Living Fund now.

Grants between £10,000 and £30,000 will be given for a period of six months. 

Deadline: Tuesday 4 April

Funding tender for local not-for-profits: £5,000 – £15,000 funding opportunity

The North Central Training Hub is offering an opportunity for not-for-profit organisations within the voluntary and community sector to tender for funding to identify and work with North Central London residents. The funding will support them into pre-employment training with the end goal of supporting them into employment in entry level roles in primary care as well as other health and social care settings.

Assistive technology grants to support disabled people

Disability grants has put a handy list together, sharing multiple organisations that can provide funding for assistive technology for disabled people.

For example, there are grants that provide free electronics, such as radios, to combat loneliness, as well as grants for specialist computers for disabled people.

This online workshop is aimed at Barnet’s Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise organisations delivering services in Barnet.

Introducing London's Cost of Living Tracker

Trust for London is launching its new Cost of Living tracker and they're giving you a chance to learn all about it. 

The tracker will give insights into how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting London residents.

Come along to Trust for London's webinar to learn about the tracker and understand how to use it.

Navigating the cost of living crisis Q&A for small organisations

Lime Green Consulting is holding two free online sessions covering specific challenges that small organisations are facing due to the cost-of-living crisis.

Topics include fundraising, grant funding, communications, service delivery and looking after your people.

Your journey to net zero workshops

Heart of the City is offering an online workshop about climate action and how small charities can work towards net zero.

The session is designed for small charities, who are early on in their sustainability journey, and who might not have dedicated sustainability resources.

Community Innovation Fund awards £240,000 to ten Barnet organisations

Ten community groups in Barnet have been awarded grants totaling £240,000 from the Community Innovation Fund. 

The projects being funded will aim to tackle the cost-of-living crisis and its health impacts on residents.

Some of the successful applicants were Colindale Communities Trust, The Barnet Lone Parent Centre and Kisharon.

Barnet: becoming a Borough of Sanctuary

Earlier this year, a Council motion was unanimously passed at full Council to work towards Barnet becoming a Borough of Sanctuary.

This will recognise Barnet as a borough proud of its diversity and history of welcoming people from across the world to settle here.

Borough of Sanctuary status is an awarded accreditation given by City of Sanctuary UK to local authorities and areas that go above and beyond to welcome those seeking a safe place to live.

The Royal Voluntary Service is hosting the Coronation Champions Awards to recognise amazing volunteers around the country. 

With eight awards categories, including sustainability and the environment, your volunteers are sure to be eligible.

How is the cost-of-living crisis affecting your voluntary organisation, charity, or CIC?

Tech-for-good platform easyfundraising is inviting all third sector organisations in our area to take part in a short survey to discover the impact on fundraising in 2023. Congratulations to New Citizens' Gateway!

A local Barnet organisation that supports refugees and asylum seekers to get settled in the Borough as won a major national award, so we think congratulations are in order! 

The organisation was chosen as one of the 10 winners of the 2023 GSK IMPACT Awards, delivered in partnership with The King's Fund. 

There were 400 charities they were bidding against to receive £40,000, so they have done a great job!

Ask for ANI (Assistance Needed Immediately) pilot 

In a new pilot launched this week, victims of domestic abuse will now be able to ‘Ask for ANI’ in 18 job centres and job and benefit offices across the UK. Anyone using the codeword will receive support from a trained staff member who will guide them to a safe and private space where they can help call the police or specialist domestic abuse services. Building on the success of the scheme in pharmacies across the UK, the Ask for ANI codeword scheme pilot offers a discreet route to get urgent help and support. 

A new ANI postcode checker has been launched to enable anyone to locate their nearest Ask for ANI service. More information can be found on GOV.UK.

Food Development Officer (Barnet)

Are you passionate about finding new ways to explore food equality? Are you passionate working with and alongside community organisations and wider stakeholders? If yes, Groundwork are recruiting a new exciting post, Food Development Officer for Barnet.

Location: Office base in East Barnet with travel required across the borough
Contract: Fixed, one year
Salary: Circa £28,000 FTE. (Pro-rata is opting to work 30 hours per week)
Hours: We will consider applicants working 30 or 37.5 hours per week in this role

Barnet Together is calling for community, voluntary, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) groups as well as statutory organisations and businesses operating in the borough of Barnet, to sign up to the Barnet Voluntary Sector Manifesto.

The aim of the Manifesto is to create better understanding and deeper cross-sector collaboration between organisations working within Barnet.

It supports local VCFSEs with funding, training, resources and advice, and offers a platform for stronger sector representation, voice and connection. Barnet Together services are available to all members of Young Barnet Foundation, Volunteering Barnet and Inclusion Barnet, with each partner organisation bringing their own specialisms, knowledge and assets.
