Ginger Jin Receives AAUW American Doctoral Fellowship

The $25,000 award from the American Association of University Women will support Ginger Jin’s 2026-2027 dissertation work focused on maternal health, health equity, and care delivery in safety-net settings, specifically prenatal care and telemental health care in Federally Qualified Health Centers. Adolescents’ Knowledge of Legal Capacity to Independently Consent Linked to Higher STI/HIV Testing

A study led by Kimberly Nelson found that adolescents who were aware of their state’s minor consent laws were more likely to seek and receive testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, suggesting that teens’ accurate knowledge of their legal capacity to consent to healthcare services may be more important than the laws providing this right.
