Fool Proof: The Economics And Psychology Of Feeling Suckered
Most people really do not want to feel like suckers, and they will go way (way, way) out of their way to avoid it. Dr. Tess Wilkinson-Ryan, a professor of contract law, author of the book Fool Proof, and recent guest on Armchair Expert podcast will host a discussion of the social science of suckers. Which transactions feel like cons and which ones feel like business as usual? Who gets pegged as suckers and who gets lauded as saints? We will rethink psychology experiments, legal cases, and even traffic laws in light of the surprisingly potent dread of feeling played for a fool.

Philosophy and Chat GPT
The release of Chat GPT in November 2022 has led to a myriad of reactions, including many in educational spaces -- Penn included. In this Preceptorial, we will work collaboratively with each other and with Chat GPT on philosophical questions. In addition to exploring philosophical issues surrounding the nature of mind, intelligence, humanity, personhood, the ethics of AI, and other topics, the conversations we will have with Chat GPT will serve as a fascinating historical document to revisit in coming years as this technology evolves.
