Kia ora,

The Southern Corridor Improvements project is continuing under COVID-19 Level 2. Please find below the schedule for upcoming motorway night closures for the week commencing Sunday 30 August. Please note that closures may change at any time due to weather, construction or COVID-19 conditions.

Traffic notices provide a brief overview of temporary night closures and road layout changes for the coming week.

Sunday 30 August – Saturday 5 September

Sunday 30 August – Thursday 3 September

Full closure of all southbound lanes from Manukau to Takanini between 10pm and 5am. This includes full closure of all southbound on-ramps including Redoubt Road, Lambie Drive, SH20-1 Link between 9pm and 5am.
Full closure of all northbound lanes from Papakura to Takanini between 10pm and 5am. This includes full closure of all northbound on-ramps at Beach Road and Beach Road Loop between 9pm and 5am.
Multi-lane closure of Great South Road eastbound and westbound at Takanini interchange between 9pm and 5am.
One-way detour at Spartan Road between 9pm and 5am.

Friday 4 September

Full closure of all northbound lanes from Papakura to Takanini between 10pm and 5am. This includes full closure of all northbound on-ramps at Beach Road and Beach Road Loop between 9pm and 5am.

Upcoming Closures (subject to change)

Sunday 6 September – Thursday 10 September

Full closure of all southbound lanes from Takanini to Papakura between 10pm and 5am. This includes full closure of the Takanini southbound on-ramp between 9pm and 5am.
Multi-lane closure of Great South Road eastbound and westbound at Takanini interchange between 9pm and 5am.
Full closure of the Great South road end of Spartan Road between 9pm and 5am. No access to Spartan Road from Great South Road.
Closure of Takanini northbound off-ramp and on-ramp between 9pm and 5am.

Friday 11 September

Full closure of all northbound lanes from Papakura to Takanini between 10pm and 5am. This includes full closure of all northbound on-ramps at Beach Road and Beach Road Loop between 9pm and 5am.

Looking Ahead

Weather and COVID-19 conditions permitting, full night time closures will continue, affecting sections of both northbound and southbound lanes of the Southern Motorway between Manukau and Papakura. However, longer-term planning may be subject to change at short notice. Please keep a close eye out for Traffic Notice updates each week.
