This joyful collaboration will feature Indian ragas with tabla master Basant Madhur and his daughter Sargam, and music from the Irish tradition with internationally acclaimed musician Jon Sanders and his daughter Jenny Os. Saturday 3rd February 10am-12pm - Dance Carnival - part of the Summer Arts Festival A celebration of dance in its many forms. Performances by local dance and drumming groups, showcasing many cultures and styles. Bring your dancing shoes and join in the fun. First Monday of the Month 7-8:30pm - Voices Community Choir Voices is a social, casual, community singing group for adults and teens focused on fun, friendship, inclusion and self expression through song. They meet up on the first Monday of the month at The Comm and sing together ‘for-the-love-of-singing’. Tickets $45 available from iTicket and Whakatāne isite Saturday 24th February 2-8pm - Local Wild Food Festival A celebration of local food, from a part of the world where game, kaimoana and produce are plentiful and varied. The festival has a relaxed atmosphere with live music, food trucks, local food demonstrations and markets. Come along, watch chefs in action or check out one of the demonstrations happening throughout the day. The challenge element of the food festival will return too, and we encourage local (and visiting) foodies to enter the competition - preparing a local wild food dish and presented for judging on the day.
