Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Residents and Family Members,

Resident restrictions eased at Calvary Mt Carmel

We are pleased to advise that in consultation with the Hunter New England Public Health Unit, we have been able to ease restrictions for most residents at Calvary Mt Carmel.

This follows negative COVID-19 test results for residents in the latest round of testing yesterday.

What does this mean for residents and families?

Most of our residents are now able to leave their rooms and to move about their own household wing. For the moment, residents must remain within their own wing and cannot yet visit other households. Communal dining and activities will be done in a COVID-safe manner.

Our staff will continue to wear N95 masks and face shields, and closely monitor all residents for any symptoms of COVID-19.

The three (3) residents who tested positive initially are completing their isolation period in their rooms where they will continue to receive all care. Our staff are in direct contact with their families.

Next steps

Although restrictions on residents’ movement have been lifted, Calvary Mt Carmel will remain closed for general visitation until the public health unit deems it safe to reopen. We are liaising closely with them, and will update you again as soon as any information becomes available.

We anticipate our next update to residents and families will be later this week, unless there are any changes to be communicated before then.

Visitation exceptions can be made for residents receiving end of life care and for compassionate visits. Please talk with the home manager to make specific arrangements. Please also contact the home if you wish to book a video call with your loved one via our video call service or if you have any concerns.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Bryan McLoughlinRegional CEO – NSW & QLD
