The Law Enforcement Knowledge Lab New Resource—Federal Interventions Dashboard The U.S. Department of Justice, along with the National Policing Institute, has announced the launch of a new resource within the National Law Enforcement Knowledge Lab: a federal interventions dashboard. Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, this dashboard provides users with information regarding civil consent decrees and settlement agreements between the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and local and state government entities where there are underlying allegations of unconstitutional police practices. Law enforcement leaders may use the information within the dashboard to supplement their ongoing efforts to improve their practices and navigate challenges and opportunities within their communities. The dashboard includes information regarding the types of federal pattern-and-practice investigations involving law enforcement agencies, the reforms agreed upon in the civil consent decrees and settlement agreements, and other information that can help promote meaningful discussion on police reform and organizational improvements. Users can search by type of intervention and topics covered, as well as view maps and timelines. NIJ Article Location Data, Demographics, and Social Characteristics of Terrorist Acts This National Institute of Justice (NIJ) article discusses a new NIJ-supported study that combines two existing analytical tools—risk terrain modeling and conjunctive analysis—to link location and risk of terrorism. This approach identifies areas of high risk, providing opportunities for more effective interventions. By combining data from multiple categories, the study aimed to generate findings of greater value to law enforcement and intelligence agencies, as well as the research community. This approach can be used to alert community members, as well as law enforcement, about possible locations of terrorist acts. Webinar Cyberthreats to Public Safety—Part 1 Hosted by the National White Collar Crime Center and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, this webinar is Part 1 of a four-part webinar series that will introduce insights and analysis of the most significant and impactful cyberthreats facing public safety organizations. In our review of the 2022 landscape, we will break down the drivers of the threat actors seeking to profit or cripple mission-critical systems while introducing how we seek to combat these threats with collaboration and intelligence sharing through the Public Safety Threat Alliance (PSTA). We will also share details about the PSTA's free membership for public safety agencies and how agencies can join this critical information sharing community today and begin improving their cybersecurity posture against cyberthreats to their critical systems.
