Consultation closes at midnight on Sunday, August 6, 2023. 2023 South East Business ConferenceRegister your spot to attend the South East Business Conference (SEBC) at Bunjil Place on Wednesday 30 August. The SEBC will bring together eight Local Government Areas (LGA’s) that form part of the Greater South East Region (GSEM), eight local chambers of commerce, and 250 businesses from the region - which produces $90 billion in gross regional product and generates 628,000 local jobs. Themed Towards 2050, SEBC aims to connect and advocate the south east as Australia’s future business hub. Government programsNew Industry R&D Fund To Boost Innovation And ProductivityExpressions of Interest are now open until the 18 August 2023 for the Made in Victoria Industry R&D Infrastructure Fund. The $15 million Made in Victoria Industry R&D Infrastructure Fund will provide matched grant funding of between $250,000 and up to $2 million to eligible businesses in Victoria, to invest in new or enhanced R&D infrastructure to support the growth of Victoria’s R&D capability across key industry sectors. Peri-Urban Mobile ProgramThe Peri-Urban Mobile Program (PUMP) is a grant program that provides funding to improve mobile connectivity in bushfire priority areas along the edges of Australia's major cities. The draft guidelines, maps, and information about how to make a submission through the public consultation process can be found on the PUMP Round 2 'Have Your Say' page. Ready for GrowthReady for Growth supports Victorian businesses with high growth potential to access new markets and expand their business. The program is being delivered by Business Victoria with its partner and world-leading financial services organisation, BDO Australia. Business Victoria's growth facilitators will provide advice that may help improve your business performance, solve operational challenges, or help you make the right decisions and changes. Hiring outside the boxA new webinar series called 'Hiring Outside the Box' was developed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations to assist employers in changing the way they hire and train their workforce. Join the launch on 9 August to learn about useful strategies, such as the advantages of utilising new talent pools, from employers and industry experts. Making it easy to validate a Working with Children CheckService Victoria is making it easy to check the validity of Working with Children Checks (WWCC) with a new online bulk status checker. The new online checker can check up to 1,500 WWCCs at one time for business owners and operators.
