Waihoehoe Road upgrade

Project update

18 December 2025

Project newsletter | He pānui

We're pleased to bring you this Waihoehoe Road upgrade project newsletter.  This issue includes an update on construction and FAQs from the community.

Construction update | Mahi hangatanga

Our worksite at 18 Waihoehoe Road looks different every day as we are getting ready for piling work to start after Christmas.  We are also setting up our activities on Tui Street behind the Drury shops.

The photos above (taken from Tui Street) and below (of 18 Waihoehoe Road, from the bridge) show the progress we've made in the last month.

Parking will be limited along Tui Street while set-up and construction are underway, but you'll still be able to access community facilities, the Drury Hall, Library, and Rugby club.  We'll work with our crew to minimise the impact during community events.

Frequently asked questions | Ngā pātai auau

We've had a few queries through our project mailbox and community days about the location of the new Waihoehoe Road bridge. These and other frequently asked questions are answered on our website, which you can read on the link below.

Community engagement | He kōrero mā ngā hāpori

We'll be back in 2026 with further community information days every 3 months, beginning in February. Over 800 members of the community attended our information days throughout 2025, engaged with our project team and learnt more about a variety of transport projects happening in South Auckland.

Thank you for coming to see us and learn more about this project as we have progressed through the detailed design stage and into construction.
