Canterbury Golf News Registrations are now open for the 2024 Lamb and Hayward Canterbury Stroke Play Championships. With the popularity of this event in recent years, the number of entries for the field has been extended to 108. In other changes, entries for the Men’s and Women’s events will be Open, meaning Master’s and U19 players will play alongside the seniors as one division playing off the same tee. Prizes for the top performing Master’s (40 years +) and U19 players to still be awarded with the top performing player eligible in each category receiving the respective Masters and U19 trophies. MICHAEL RONDEL APPOINTED TO GOLF NZ BOARD AND DION KERR APPOINTED NEW CANTERBURY GOLF PRESIDENT Following the recent news of Michale Rondel's election to the Golf NZ Board, at the recent Canterbury Golf Executive Committee meeting Vice-President Dion Kerr was duly elected to take on the Canterbury Golf Presidents position. 2023 NZ INTERPROVINCIAL OVERVIEW The annual New Zealand Men's and Women's Interprovincial tournaments took place during the first week of December on the Kapiti Coast with the Men’s and Women’s premier Representative competitions once again being played in parallel to each other at Paraparaumu Beach and Waikanae Golf Clubs. Peter and his colleagues deliver the annual NZ Hickory Open which now consists of a week-long programme of Hickory events all leading up to the Open itself on March 10th at Christchurch Golf Club. Proceeds from this event are kindly donated by the NZ Society of Hickory Golf to Canterbury Golf's Futures Canterbury programme, which is a great example of the traditions of our game supporting the future of the game! To view our chat with Peter, click below: 2023 CANTERBURY GOLF ORDER OF MERIT (OOM) & DEVELOPMENT FUNDS As previously announced, this year's OOM season has some extra incentive for senior players. The OOM season events predominantly take place from January through to the end of March with the Tour Championship Final taking place at the end of April at Clearwater. This year as part of adding an extra incentive for local players to play in the various OOM events throughout the season, and in the interests of creating another avenue to help players’ development, Canterbury Golf has reintroduced Development Fund prizes for the 2023/2024 CGI Tour – OOM.
