The Scorecard team got in touch with Emily to understand what motivated her to add Scorecard assessments to her small business offerings. Why did you choose to become an accredited Scorecard assessor? I chose to be a Scorecard assessor as I’ve been involved and passionate about residential sustainability for a long time. I see Scorecard as a great tool for engaging in conversation about existing houses and helping to empower homeowners with both information and tools on how to improve the thermal performance of their homes and reduce their energy costs. Now that you’re accredited, what do you look forward to doing? I’m looking forward to undertaking Scorecard assessments to share knowledge on some of the easy and more complicated ways a home's energy use can be reduced and thermal performance enhanced. I’m also looking forward to integrating a Scorecard assessment into my architectural practice as a first step - identifying existing issues and a discussing metrics on sustainability from the get-go. Lake Macquarie had this to say about the festival and why they chose Scorecard to support their electrification program: "Lake Macquarie Council launched their subsidised Residential Efficiency Scorecard assessment program on Saturday 21 September at their annual Living Smart Festival. We have been working on a home energy efficiency campaign that focuses on electrification and helps empower residents to start making the switch to efficient electric appliances and renewable energy. We decided Scorecard would be a perfect fit for us to start engaging the community and providing them with opportunities to meet with energy experts and discuss their homes. By adding the Scorecard subsidies to our program, we are hoping to increase awareness about the benefits (both environmentally and financially) of making sustainable and efficient upgrades to your home.
