Mauriora!

We at Te Māngai Pāho were fortunate enough to have a front row seat during Matariki 2022 and were able to see up close the amazing work Rangi did. The honour is fully deserved and we congratulate Rangi on his achievement.

It’s a busy time of the year, we have a new Statement of Intent (3 to 5 year plan) to be published in the coming weeks alongside our Statement of Performance Expectations (for FY 2023/24). In those documents we will signal our intention to work with the sector to develop a more data led approach to measuring the impact of the investments we make.

We have already undertaken much of the development work required to build our data capacity. In mid-June it is our intention to facilitate a wānanga for the sector to share the progress we have made in both linking the KoPA model to Nielsen's CMI and the development of an Impact Measure. It will also be an opportunity for our content creators and platforms to engage with our in-house and external data experts. Keep a eye out for more information to come soon.

Larry Parr,
Kaihautū o Te Māngai Pāho

Te Marama Puoro o Aotearoa | NZ Music Month is just around the corner.

The theme for the month is Community + Collaboration. A celebration of working together to build a more connected and collaborative musical landscape across Aotearoa. Waiata Hou - Tūturu by Mauri

'Tūturu' is the latest waiata released by established hip hop and R&B band Mauri, produced by Edy on the Beat and written by Raniera Watene and Kawai Joe.

"Tūturu talks about true, everlasting love, no matter what trials we come across. The purpose of the waiata is inspired by true love, te aroha tūturu."

Established back in 2017, Mauri released their debut singled entitled ‘Whakatō te Kākano’ which has accumulated just under one million streams on Spotify, setting ‘Tūturu’ up to be another successful release. With lyrics created for both first and second language speakers, “Tūturu’ is sure to inspire and encourage the revitalisation of Te Reo Māori. 'Tūturu' is out now on all streaming platforms.
