Hamilton section project update - November 2021

Testing, testing, testing – on a project like the Hamilton section of the Waikato Expressway everything has to be tested for quality and specification.

We have completed more than 260,000 tests and the work continues until everything is completed ahead of the expressway section opening to traffic next year.

The tests are done by a team of Winstones Aggregates staff who operate a laboratory adjacent to the project site office at Ruakura.

You can read about this in the November project update. There’s also information on the next traffic switch at Tamahere when we put SH1 traffic on the new curved Cambridge Road bridge before Christmas.

We have a breakdown on progress across the 22km site, as well as a handy graphic showing walking and cyclist paths at Tamahere – created by the project, Waikato District Council and also Te Awa Cycleway.

Check out the update here.
