SKI: Ravens Claim Women's Title, Men Grab Silver
Carleton Ravens captured their second consecutive OUA women's Nordic skiing championship last weekend! The Ravens women were joined on the podium by the men's team, who have now finished second in back-to-back seasons.

Ancillary Fee Referenda: Mental Health Fee
The 2024 writ of election for the Carleton University ancillary fee referenda has been issued. Due to overwhelming demand for increased mental health supports, Health and Counselling Services is proposing a $25 per term mental health fee. Students will vote by online ballot through their cMail on Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15.

Last day for receipt of applications for admission from candidates who wish to be guaranteed consideration for financial assistance (including Carleton fellowships, scholarships and teaching assistantships) administered by Carleton University.

March 8, 2024
Last day to withdraw from late winter term courses with a full fee adjustment.

March 15, 2024

  • Last day for academic withdrawal from full winter, late winter and fall/winter courses.

  • Last day to request Formal Examination Accommodation Forms for April full winter, late winter, and fall/winter final examinations to the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities.

Compete at this year's
Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition!

The 3MT at Carleton is a competition for graduate students in which participants present their research and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less to a panel of non-specialist judges. Competition will be held on March 28, 2024. 

Participants will compete for prizes! First place: $1,000, Second place: $500, Third place: $250 “People’s Choice” prize: $150.

Paul Menton Centre Graduate Writing Group 

The Graduate Student Writing Group is for any graduate student working on an independent project (seminar or conference paper, grant proposal, journal article, thesis, manuscript, etc). The group provides a space for accountability for projects without traditional deadlines and the chance for students to set tangible writing goals for the session and for the upcoming week.

 

Writing Support by CSAS

Join the Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS) this Winter Term 2024 for their Academic Writing for English Language Learners sessions on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pick and choose the session that works for you or join all of them! 

Next session on March 6 will review nouns (articles - a, an, the). Sessions are available hybrid: in person at 402 MacOdrum Library and on MS Teams.

2024 Underhill Graduate Student Colloquium - Registration is now Open!

The 2024 Underhill Graduate Student Colloquium - Echoes: Memory, Narrativity, and Dimensions of Historical Discourse will take place in Paterson Hall on March 22. 

To register, please fill out this Google Form. Registration will be open until the end of the day on March 15. Please  sign up as soon as possible!

In addition to a slate of panels covering many topics that are sure to captivate your interest, the Colloquium will also feature two keynote speakers: Carleton Prof. Audra A. Diptée and author Charles Foran.

Awards for Grad Students by the Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence for Canadian Veterans (CPCoE)

The CPCoE has created Capacity Building Initiatives (CBIs) to support research in fields related to Veterans’ chronic pain. The CBIs were created to support individual students completing research at the Master’s or doctoral level. The aim of the CBI program is to support and increase the number of researchers whose research is relevant to Veterans living with chronic pain.

Fulbright Scholars Find Opportunities, Community and Connections at Carleton

In our increasingly interconnected world, cross-border academic exchange is critically important.

Scholars selected by the Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America (Fulbright Canada) have the opportunity to take part in a residential program that fosters mutual understanding between our two countries.

Unique to Carleton University are its four Fulbright Canada Distinguished Research Chairs which offer scholars a nine-month term, compared to the traditional single semester of the Fulbright Canada Visiting Research Chairs Program.

Travelling Studios take Architecture Students
to Nine Countries

Travel is an opportunity to see buildings, explore cities, and to experience landscapes beyond the comforting familiarity of design studio. This year, about 100 Carleton Architecture students are visiting nine countries: Peru, Ghana, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Albania, Colombia, and New Mexico, USA. Short, intense, and highly local, these experiences underline the global nature of architectural culture. 

“Study trips abroad have been central to the school for decades and part of our commitment to extend community engagement globally,” says Anne Bordeleau, director of the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism.
