Remedial pavement work on the nortern end of the roundabout to be completed this week
Kia ora koutou,
Last week, we compacted and tested the northbound lanes north of the roundabout to prepare it for sealing. Sealing of this section is planned to be carried out today, Monday 7 November.
On Tuesday 8 November northbound traffic will be shifted onto the western side of SH1 at a reduced speed, to allow for two days of seal care. Seal care helps to embed the chip into the seal before it is swept in preparation for line marking.
It is important to keep to the reduced speed limit so chip isn’t distributed onto the side of the road or towards oncoming vehicles.
Line marking is planned for the evening of Wednesday 9th November, from 7pm. After line marking is complete, traffic will be shifted into the new, final layout before peak morning traffic on Thursday.
This work will be carried out under manual traffic control, with a 30km temporary speed limit in place.
Our work is weather dependent and dates may shift if we experience significant rain.
Following the pavement work, we still have a few finishing touches to complete including installation of the final traffic island and guardrail, so you'll see our crew out on site until approximately mid-November carrying these out.
