Building Greener, More Resilient Schools + A Special Invitation

Do good. Feel good.

FEBRUARY 2025 UPDATE

Empowering Students for a Greener Future

Our Sustainable Schools Initiative is transforming how schools manage waste, turning challenges into hands-on learning experiences that empower students and create a greener future.

On February 5th, our local partner, Good Neighbours Indonesia (GNI), led an interactive Waste Management Training at Rempek 1 Primary School. The session began with a pre-test to assess students’ knowledge, then brought learning to life through fun, practical activities.

The students dived into the world of plastic waste, learning about various types such as HDPE, PET, and PP—key materials they will soon collect for our new waste bank initiative. They also learned to identify residual waste that’s difficult or impossible to recycle.

Taking their knowledge into action, the students then took part in activities where they sorted organic and non-organic waste into the correct bins. The students took charge of this with a real sense of ownership and awareness.

The day wrapped up with a post-test to measure the students' progress, showcasing their deeper understanding of environmental issues. The most exciting part? With this newfound knowledge, the students are now ready to take action, starting to sort waste at school and playing a key role in building a cleaner, more sustainable community!

With the upcoming setup of the plastic bank and composting facility at the school, the students will directly contribute to a cleaner future—and earn valuable resources for their school community, truly paving the way for a greener, brighter future!

Continuous Improvement for Stronger, More Resilient Schools

Earlier this month, the Classroom of Hope team came together with our partners,  Happy Hearts Indonesia, Block Solutions Indonesia, and our building contractors, for an important meeting focused on continuous improvement. We’re always looking for ways to learn from our experiences building with innovative Block technology, and this meeting was a chance to refine our approach and make sure we're delivering the best results for the children and communities we serve.

The meeting's main goal was to review and standardise our building methods and explored how we can incorporate new technologies to ensure our schools remain strong and sustainable for years to come. Every step we take is a part of our ongoing journey to build stronger, more resilient schools, with sustainability at the core.
