Equestrian WA

December 2, 2021

It was with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of Jackie Lancaster. Equestrian WA offers our sincere condolences to Karl, Jesseca and her extended family.

Jackie has been tireless as a volunteer working to support EWA, Dressage WA and the State Equestrian Centre. She instigated and organised midweek dressage at the SEC for over three years, supporting the SEC and the dressage community. Her successful vision for the mid-week dressage was to offer training opportunities for competitors and judge training, which encapsulated her desire to develop dressage at all levels of the Sport.

This was just one of the many ways she found to support EWA that resulted in her being awarded EWA’s Volunteer of the Year. Jackie and Karl have also been valued sponsors of the Sport, supporting many dressage competitions and the EWA Awards Night.

Jackie has been a successful dressage competitor and committee member while also finding the time to develop her dressage judge qualifications to give back to the sport further. She has been a true supporter of EWA and the dressage community and will be greatly missed by the entire EWA family.

SENSORY HAIR RULING TRANSITION PERIOD EXTENDED

Back in August 2021, the EA Board voted to implement the recent FEI rule to ban the trimming of horse sensory hairs across all EA National Disciplines in the interests of horse welfare.

Given circumstances, such as the impact of COVID-19 on some States not being able to host events allowing sufficient time for all members to be educated on the ruling and the delay from the FEI on publishing guidelines for the implementation of the rule, the EA Board have recently voted to extend the transition period until 1 July 2022.  The penalty of disqualification will not be applied during this extended transition period and the rule will come into full effect as of 1 July 2022.

For clarification and understanding the full rule...read more

STATE EQUESTRIAN CENTRE - SAFE WA QR REGISTER

Just a REMINDER that anyone attending the State Equestrian Centre will be required to register their contact details upon arrival to the facilities, from Saturday 5 December 2020.

Download the Safe WA app on your phone prior to arriving at the SEC and Scan the QR codes which will be at entrances around the buildings.

Get the app HERE

If you don’t have a mobile phone a manual form will be available.

From Saturday, 5 December 2020 the Western Australian Government will be implementing a stringent COVID-19 contact tracing procedure. This is in line with the State’s relaxation of the hard border policy.

Selected businesses and venues are required to keep a contact register of ALL visitors. This includes indoor sporting centres, entertainment venues and community facilities. Equestrian WA has sought clarification on equestrian venues and have been advised that most facilities will be required to participate in the mandatory “SafeWA” QR contract tracing register.

The same hygiene, social distancing and COVID Safety Plan measures remain in place for all venues. We have again reviewed and updated the following documents to support the gradual restart of the equestrian activities in WA.
