BURNLEY IS DOG-FRIENDLY - ARE YOU READY TO JOIN THE PACK?
We're excited to be launching our new Dog-Friendly Burnley campaign, showcasing Burnley as a welcoming destination for visitors and their four-legged friends.
If your business welcomes dogs, we'd love to hear from you! Whether you're a cafe, pub, restaurant, attraction, shop or service, this a great opportunity to be featured across our social media channels and on the Discover Burnley website.
How to get involved
Help us celebrate the fantastic dog-friendly venues across the town by sending us:
- Details of your dog-friendly offer
- Any dog-friendly facilities you provide
- High-quality photos of dogs enjoying your venue
We'll be creating dedicated content to inspire dog owners to explore Burnley with their furry companions and want to include as many local businesses as possible.

JOIN IN THE FUN WITH OUR PLAYDAY ON WEDNESDAY 5TH AUGUST
Join us in Burnley this National Play Day for a fun-filled celebration of play, creativity and community.
Families and children of all ages are invited to enjoy a fantastic range of free activities, play experiences and interactive sessions delivered by local partners, organisations and businesses from across Burnley.
From fun inflatables and giant games to traditional playground fun including skipping, hula hooping, hopscotch and much more - there's already some fantastic activities taking place for this event on Wednesday 5th August - but we need more participation!
Want to get involved?
We’re inviting more local partners, community groups, businesses and organisations to join us in making the town vibrant, welcoming and full of play.
There are lots of simple ways to get involved: it could be as simple as putting board games out in your café, creating a tuff tray of Lego outside your shop, setting up a colouring station or offering a playful activity that encourages people to stop, play and connect.
Whether you can offer an activity, creative workshop, interactive experience, or simply want to support the day, we’d love to hear from you - each participant will be included in our programme of events and will receive free exposure across our website and social media channels! If you can’t attend on the day but would still like to support the event, we’d welcome donations of play resources or funding towards equipment such as bubbles, chalk, skipping ropes, balls, hula hoops or simple games. Any donated items can be used during the event and then redistributed to local families afterwards, helping the impact of play continue beyond the day itself.
WE'VE REVVING AND READY FOR BURNLEY'S VINTAGE & PERFORMANCE CAR SHOW... ARE YOU?
Burnley's Vintage & Performance Car Show returns on Saturday 12th September 2026 and excitement is already building for one of the town's most anticipated events of the year!
Following the fantastic success of 2025, this year's event is gearing up to be bigger, busier and better than ever, bringing thousands of visitors into the town for a day packed with horsepower and fun.
From 11am - 4pm, St James's Street and Curzon Street will come alive with a spectacular showcase of vintage, classic , retro and high-performance vehicles, alongside entertainment, family activities and plenty of surprises throughout the day.
Got a Vehicle to Showcase?
Vehicle registrations are still open and we're encouraging local businesses, employees, customers and contacts who own a vintage, classic or performance vehicle, including motorcycles, to get involved and exhibit their pride and joy.
With record entries, the deadline is drawing near to secure a place and be part of this popular event, so make sure to register quick via the link below.

The Vintage & Performance Car Show is more than just a vehicle event, it's a fantastic opportunity for businesses across the town to make the most of increased footfall. There are many ways your business can be involved in this event, including:

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: A Q&A WITH BURNLEY ARTISAN MARKET
This month, we caught up with Lisa Cowley from Burnley Artisan Market to tell us everything we need to know ahead of their next event, which takes place on Saturday 4th July 2026 on St James's Street...
For those who haven’t visited before, can you tell us a little about the Burnley Artisan Market and what makes it such a popular monthly event?
The Burnley Artisan Market has become a firm favourite in the town, bringing together around 65 - 70 of the region’s finest independent makers, bakers, artists, food producers and creative businesses on the first Saturday of every month. It’s much more than a mere market, it’s a community event where people can enjoy live music, free family activities and discover unique products they simply won’t find on the high street. Taking you back to the days when the high street was King, every stall is carefully curated, so visitors know they’re supporting genuine independent businesses while enjoying a fantastic day out in the heart of Burnley. The event is now seen as a flagship market in Lancashire and we are so proud of how the event has evolved over the past 5 years.
What can visitors look forward to over the next few months?
We’ve got an exciting programme lined up with even more fantastic artisan traders, delicious street food, live entertainment and free children’s activities. Every month brings something different as we welcome new independent businesses alongside many of our much-loved regular traders. Many of whom have traded with us for five years in Burnley! Whether you’re looking for handmade gifts, locally produced food and drink, homeware, artwork or simply somewhere to spend a relaxing Saturday with family and friends, there’s always something new to discover at Burnley Artisan Market.
The market is a fantastic platform for independent businesses. How can budding entrepreneurs, makers and local artisans get involved and what advice would you give to someone considering their first stall?
We love supporting small businesses and many of our traders have grown significantly after starting with us. Anyone interested in trading can apply through the Independent Street website, where we carefully curate our events to ensure a great mix of products. My biggest piece of advice is to just go for it. You don’t need a huge business to get started - passion, quality products and enthusiasm go a long way. Invest in a welcoming stall display, chat to your customers and remember that every successful business starts somewhere. Markets are a fantastic way to build confidence, receive valuable customer feedback and grow your brand. We offer an affordable platform for start-up businesses and it is a great way to test the water for a new concept, idea or brand. Proudly three of our Burnley artisan traders have gone from pop up to permanent shops in Burnley which shows… it is possible.. dreams can become reality.
Burnley will celebrate its Year of Culture in 2027. How do you see the Artisan Market contributing to the town’s cultural celebrations and supporting the local creative community?
Artisan markets naturally celebrate creativity, craftsmanship and community, so we’re incredibly excited to be part of Burnley’s Year of Culture. Independent businesses, artists and makers all play an important role in shaping the identity of a town. Our markets create opportunities for local creatives to showcase their talents while encouraging people to spend time in Burnley, support local businesses and experience everything the town has to offer. We hope to play a small part in showcasing Burnley as a vibrant destination full of creativity, talent and community spirit.
What do you love most about bringing the Artisan Market to Burnley each month and what makes the town such a great place to support independent businesses?
For me, it’s seeing the community come together. Watching visitors meet the people behind the products, seeing traders succeed and hearing how much people enjoy spending time at the market makes all the hard work worthwhile. Burnley has such a strong sense of community and people genuinely want to support local businesses. There’s a real appreciation for quality, creativity, and independent enterprise and that’s exactly what our markets are all about. We’re incredibly proud to work alongside our partners in Burnley and look forward to continuing to grow the market for many years to come.

Do you have smart workwear you no longer need? Burnley Together's Working Wardrobe, based at Down Town (above New Look) in Charter Walk Shopping Centre, is looking for donations of good-quality clothing to help people feel confident as they return to work or attend interviews.
Your donated suits, shirts, blouses, trousers, skirts, shoes and accessories can make a real difference, providing both practical support and a confidence boost to those taking the next step in their employment journey.
If you have items in excellent condition that could help someone start a new chapter, please consider donating them to Working Wardrobe.
You can drop them off at Down Town, Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.

FREE ONLINE AI WORKSHOP FOR BURNLEY BID BUSINESSES
If you're interested in learning about how AI can help your business, there's a free 90-minute online workshop designed for beginners taking place on Wednesday 1st July 2026 from 11am - 12.30pm.
Hosted by Mike Batey, the session will explain how AI works, introduce a simple framework for creating effective prompts, and include live demonstrations and hands-on exercises.
The workshop takes place online via Zoom and attendance is completely free thanks to BID funding.
