We're writing to let you know that the Remutaka Hill road will be closed for essential maintenance and slip prevention works for 5 consecutive nights, from 9pm-4am, starting Sunday night 3 May and finishing Friday morning 8 May.
Two further 1-night closures are planned for the Sunday nights of 12 July and 13 September.
PLEASE NOTE: The 1-night closure previously advertised for Sunday night 5 April has been cancelled following further consideration of Covid-19 guidelines.
Night closures on this steep, narrow road increase safety for maintenance crews and enable better quality maintenance work.
Road crews are able to complete many months’ worth of work in a small number of night closures. This significantly reduces stop/go disruptions for travellers at other times.
A limited shuttle van service can be booked for night shift workers and others with essential commitments. For this and other information, please email remutaka@nzta.govt.nz
