Jeff Husa, DVM, DABVP (Swine Health Management), President
The time has come for me to hand over the reins to your next President. Dr. Stephanie Janeczko and her team will take office on July 1st. You are in great hands!
Serving ABVP as an executive, a Director, a Regent, a reviewer, and more, has been a tremendous experience. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to give back to this organization which has given me so much. I was asked to summarize what I’ve learned during this journey. The list seemed huge at first, but it really boils down to one amazing fact. ABVP specialists provide expert veterinary care to virtually every animal species on the Earth. Think about that for a moment. Our Diplomates deliver the best of the best every day to “all creatures great and small."
I want to thank all of you for your role in my journey. You serve on the Board, on committees, and as mentors. Many of you have mentored me whether you intended to or not. To you, I extend my gratitude…and a large bottle of Tylenol! Finally, I particularly want to thank Marisa, our Executive Director. With patience, professionalism, and a huge heart, she has kept me focused (for the most part) on our priorities, both in the moment and over the long haul. Thank you, Marisa. Please keep up your great work! You folks are not rid of me yet. I’ve got about 2 more weeks to wrap up some action items, and then will shift toward other ABVP duties. Once my Presidential calendar clears up, I also plan to visit a quiet mountain lake or two. After that, I hope to see everyone in Boston next
year for Symposium. Happy trails!
Jeff
Important Updates on MOC Fees & ABVP Membership Structure
Reminder of the two important updates regarding Maintenance of Certification (MOC) fees and ABVP membership structure, effective for the 2025 calendar year. MOC Fees – What You Need to Know
Diplomates submitting MOC materials in 2025 (submission deadline: July 15, 2025) will be charged the current MOC fee upon submission through the Prolydian system. However, in alignment with our new fee structure, this fee will be fully refunded shortly after submission. Please note that software updates to accommodate this change are still in development. We appreciate your patience during this transition. Changes to Renewal Fees and Membership Structure
Beginning with the 2025 renewal cycle, invoices will list two separate fees: Certification Fee ($395) – Required to maintain board certification and eligibility for certification-related committee service. Membership Fee ($25) – Optional, but provides full member benefits such as access to ABVP listservs, CE discounts (including the ABVP Symposium), and eligibility to serve on governance committees. Importantly, it also waives
the $750 MOC fee at your 10-year cycle.
Diplomates may choose to maintain certification without membership. However, only members will receive the benefits listed above and the MOC waiver. Want to Decline Membership? Contact the Executive Director to request a refund of the membership portion of your invoice after this summer's dues cycle commences. For questions or further assistance, please reach out to the ABVP office.

Celebrating Juneteenth: Honoring Freedom, History, and Progress
On June 19th, we honored Juneteenth, a significant day in American history marking the end of slavery in the United States. On this day in 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. We are reminded that in order to repair the injustices of the past, we must continue to appropriately name and acknowledge them and the ways in which their impacts persist.
As veterinary professionals, we recognize the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our field. Juneteenth is not only a time to reflect on the past but also an opportunity to celebrate Black excellence, resilience, and contributions within veterinary medicine and beyond.
Let’s continue working toward a more inclusive profession where everyone —regardless of race or background—can thrive. Happy Juneteenth!

View 2024 and 2025 ABVP Symposium Presentations
Mike Dutton, MS, DVM, DABVP, CE Chair
There are several presentations from these Symposia at www.CEHub.vet for view and earning of CE credit. This can be a great way to add some MOC CE. 2024 presentations are RACE Approved while 2025 are not (nor plan to be). (Remember MOC CE doesn't need to be RACE approved.)
The cost averages $40 per 50 minute presentation with a portion of the net proceeds going to ABVP.
State/Province CE Licensure Requirements
Mike Dutton, MS, DVM, DABVP, CE Chair
The CE Committee is asking you help in determining unique State/Province CE licensure requirements. We are also investigating whether your State/Province allows non-RACE CE from a list of approved conferences. Please fill out the survey below.
ABVP is happy to partner with VIN to make Rounds available to all ABVP Diplomates. You must be a VIN member and/or an ABVP Diplomate to attend. Those who attend the live session earn 1 hour of CE credit. Sessions are also recorded for viewing later with NO CE credit attached. Save The Dates!
