What Kāinga Ora redevelopments are happening in your neighbourhood? One way Kainga Ora is increasing their number of homes available is by redeveloping existing Kāinga Ora homes. This is where we look to make better use of our existing land by replacing older houses on large sections with more modern, warm, and dry homes, that are better suited to the needs of our customers today. We work through a number of stages to determine if a site is suitable for redevelopment. Once consents are approved, we can give more accurate timeframes for when construction will begin, and be completed. We are looking to redevelop these sites across Westport, Greymouth and Hokitika:Westport / Kawatiri
Greymouth / Māwhera
Hokitika
Key redevelopment updatesOctober 2023 - April 2024 As this is our first newsletter, we have included project updates from October 2023, which is when we held our last community drop-in sessions on the West Coast.
