Study NSW shines in ChinaStudy NSW’s China office supported the marketing and student recruitment efforts of NSW education institutions at the 2024 Global Education Alliance (GEA) Summit in Kunming, China, showcasing our commitment to education excellence. Our Director, Lily Wu, also organised a focused showcase with six NSW education providers, including comprehensive training for over 200 GEA network agents and a seminar titled 'Discover New South Wales' reaching a broad audience both in-person and online. Achievements of NSW alumni celebrated in IndonesiaStudy NSW hosted an alumni reception that brought together alumni from leading educational institutions in NSW and key stakeholders in Jakarta, Indonesia. The NSW alumni shared impactful stories of their educational journeys, showcasing their skills and contributions across diverse fields globally. Industry news and opportunities January 2024 international student data releasedThe international student data released by the Australian Government Department of Education suggests that over half of all international student enrolments were from the following five markets: China (20%), India (17%), Nepal (9%), Philippines (6%), and Vietnam (5%). Enhancing international student homestay experience at NEAS SymposiumWe're proud to have supported the recent NEAS Homestay Symposium, benefiting homestay providers, education professionals, and agents in enhancing student accommodation and welfare services. We encourage the sector to adopt, and find out more about, industry-developed homestay standards to improve the international student homestay experience. Government programs and updates Western Sydney International Airport to turbocharge visitor economyWestern Sydney International Airport (WSI) will open in less than 1000 days, bringing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the NSW visitor economy. It will be the first airport in NSW with flights taking off and landing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The new airport, which is more than 70 per cent complete, is on track to open to international, domestic and cargo services by late 2026. Industry and investment return to the centre of NSW governmentNSW Premier Chris Minns has announced that industry, innovation, trade and investment functions will return to the centre of government through the transfer of Investment NSW, including Study NSW, to the Premier’s Department. Applications open for Uptown Accelerator to support even more vibrant districtsThe NSW Government Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner is calling on arts and cultural institutions, entertainment and hospitality venues and business associations to take part in the 2024 Uptown Accelerator, a global first-of-its-kind program that empowers local business owners to collaborate to create engaging, safe and dynamic going-out precincts.
