SH75 Halswell Road improvements project - service location work including some night work

Kia ora,

From Monday 13 February, for about three weeks, we'll be potholing along SH75 Halswell Road, between Curletts Road and Dunbars Road.

The work will be mainly during the day (between 7.30am and 5.30pm), Monday to Saturday. Some potholing will be done at night (between 7pm and 5am) during week three.

Our work is weather dependent and may take longer.

We’ll be working on the footpath, in the berm area and in the road shoulder space.

We’ll be investigating the location of underground services which is important to help progress our design for the planned road improvements, including bus lanes, along Halswell Road.

We’re sorry for any disruption and thank you for your cooperation.

Ngā mihi,

The Halswell Road Project Team

What to expect

A small crew will be potholing (digging down) at locations about 50 to 100 meters apart on both sides of Halswell Road. They’ll spend around 2-3 hours at each location before moving to the next.

The work starts from Dunbars Road on the southern side of Halswell Road. The crew will work mostly on the southern side up to Curletts Road and then will move to the northern side of Halswell Road, working back to Dunbars Road.

The work involves using a hydro vac truck to dig the hole - each hole will be backfilled and compacted. You may hear the noise from the crew working the hydro vac truck (which uses high pressure water to avoid damage to services) and the compacting can cause ground vibration. Our crew will limit this disruption as much as possible.

Traffic impacts

The crew will work in the footpath, berm and road shoulder area. A temporary footpath or road shoulder closure will be in place during the work, pedestrians will be guided to a diversion path.

Please follow the on-road signage.

Driveway access

Access to properties will be maintained. However, we may need to work in front of driveways from time to time. If you need to get into or out of your property and we are in the way, please just talk to one of our friendly staff and we will make sure you can use your driveway.
