News You Can Use No images? Click here ,Welcome to the WHGBL Newsletter! Newsletter Issue #1-18 THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SEASON AND NEW SEASON INFORMATION!!! Dear , As we wrap up another exciting season of the West Hartford Girls Basketball League, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for your support and dedication throughout the year. Your commitment to our league and your daughters' leadership skills development is truly appreciated. Congratulations are in order for the Georgetown team, champions of the Juniors Division, and the Sparks, who clinched the Seniors Division title (see photos below). Their hard work and sportsmanship have been exemplary this season. We also want to express our gratitude to all the coaches across the Minors, Juniors, and Seniors Divisions. Your tireless efforts in mentoring and guiding our players have not gone unnoticed. Special thanks to those who attended the season-end league appreciation dinner at The Pond House Cafe and provided valuable feedback to our Board of Directors (see photos below). Your insights will help us enhance the league experience for everyone. Over the next few months, the Board will be reviewing and implementing changes based on your feedback, covering everything from rules and team formations to uniforms and sponsorships. Please join us in congratulating Alice Araya for earning the WHGBL $1,000 University Scholarship (see photo below) and Grace Dufour-Guarino (see photo below) for earning the WHGBL Basketball Camp/Clinic Scholarship. Alice will be heading to Concordia University this fall, while Grace will be participating in the Cersosimo Basketball Camp through the Town of West Hartford Division of Leisure Services. Exciting news for those interested in continuing basketball over the summer: The WHGBL is working with the Town of West Hartford to support a potential new basketball summer pickup league. The league would be managed by the town through an outside third party and we're hoping the pickup games would be held indoors. Details are very limited at this time but stay tuned to our newsletter, our website and our Facebook page. If the town can make this happen, we'll let you know immediately. In addition, we are pleased to announce the expansion of our Board of Directors (see photos below). Jennifer Pasion-Blocker has been appointed as our new Director, Officials and Scheduling, while Jeff Vanags joins us as the Assistant Treasurer. Melinda Love will serve as the Minors Division Coordinator, and Joette Trinh as Director, Risk Management. Their expertise and dedication will contribute significantly to our league's future success. For more information, like our Facebook page or visit our website, www.whgbl.org. Looking ahead, registration for the 2025-2026 season will begin in mid-September. We encourage you to stay updated through our website and social media channels for more details as we approach the registration period. Once again, thank you for being an integral part of the WHGBL community. Your continued support ensures that we can provide a positive and enriching basketball experience for all our players.
