A new bursary was announced in honour of the late Liz Alexander’s contributions to agricultural innovation in Queensland and beyond at the evokeAG. 2025 event, held in Brisbane this week. Announcing the bursary, Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett described Liz as a true pioneer and a passionate advocate for Queensland’s AgTech sector. When their daughter Eliza returned to the farm, Nick and Felicity Maynard saw an opportunity. They had started the myBMP process but had hit a standstill. When Eliza offered to help, they realised she had the skills and determination to complete the certification and improve their systems. Reminder to Register Crops on SataCrop Cotton growers are reminded to register their crops on SataCrop as the platform not only alerts spray operators to cotton fields, reducing herbicide risks, but mapping crops can also help beekeepers manage hives. Recently, hives were affected due to unmapped crops, highlighting the need for all crops to be registered on the platform. Cotton Australia Wins Grant to Expand Global Reach Cotton Australia has been awarded an Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) from the Australian government to support the global promotion of Australian cotton. The grant, part of a government initiative to help exporters expand into new markets, will provide vital financial support for international promotion efforts. Cotton Australia's planning for the Sydney Royal Easter Show (April 11–22) is in full swing, and growers are encouraged to spend a few hours at the stand to help share the story of Australian cotton. Visitors love meeting growers and hearing about cotton firsthand, so let us know if you're keen to help out. Cotton Australia's Brand Relationships Manager, Ashley Hollis, recently spoke at the ‘Good For Business’ Sustainable Fashion Summit at NSW Parliament House, Sydney. She joined industry experts to discuss natural fibres and the role of Australian cotton, including the myBMP program and Cotton Australia’s work with global brands to drive demand. Women with leadership ambitions are encouraged to apply for the Diversity in Agriculture Leadership Program (DiALP). Twelve women will be selected for the 2025 program. Last year, Cotton Australia’s Jennifer Brown was among the participants. More News
