Project Update - Awatere Valley

16 March 2022 | Next update 23 March 2022

Summary of what's happening this week

The Awatere Valley Road, from 5km past Hodder River Bridge to Molesworth, is only open for residents and essential services.

As crews are working in the valley please expect delays and be aware of additional truck movements, especially around the Jordan Bridge and Woodman's Bend.

The Limestone Bridge slip is monitored daily, if you need to pass the slip when crew are not on site, please stop and do a visual check for any slip debris before crossing, to make sure it is safe to do so.

Truck & trailer access

As always, if you require essential truck and trailer access into the Awatere Valley, please contact our team with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Please phone 0800 213 213 or 03 520 8024 or email recovery@marlboroughroads.com

Awatere Valley

The Limestone Bridge slip is monitored daily and clearing carried out as necessary to provide safe passage for road users through this area.

Last week crews continued with installing culverts and water table works at Camden Cookhouse.

Water table improvements continued past Old Upcot Bridge, towards McQueen's culvert.

Abutment improvement and rock armouring is continuing at Jordan Bridge.

Preparation has been completed at McRae's Culvert, 6km past Jordan Bridge for remedial works to begin this week.

Crews are carting rock to Woodmen's Bend which will be used to build a permanent revetment (sloping retaining wall) to protect the road from further underslips.
