Nō te rangi tonu nei whakawhiwhia ai tō tātou Whaea, a Dr. Arapera Royal Tangaere, ki te tohu hirahira o te Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit award for her dedication and services to Māori education and Kōhanga Reo. Dr. Arapera has been with the Kōhanga Reo movement for over 30 years and has been pivotal in advocacy roles and the development of the Whāriki. Her tamariki and mokopuna have all been through Kōhanga Reo and are a source of pride and joy for her and Papa Ben. I tērā tau tonu i whakarewahia Te Kōmihana mō Te Reo Māori, e mōhiotia whānuitia ana ināianei ko Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori. Nō reira e ngā Kōhanga Reo tēnā tukunga mai he pikitia, he whakaahua rānei hei whakanui i ngā rauemi nei. Kei te mihi tonu ki Te Taura Whiri, kia a koutou e Te Tumu e Ngahiwi Apanui me tō tira i whakarite i ēnei taonga mō ā tātou Kōhanga Reo me ā tātou kaimahi. This year is the year of acknowledgements and the renaissance of Te Ao Māori through its language revitalisation efforts and cultural repatriation. Although we celebrate 40 years of Kōhanga Reo we also celebrate 35 years of the Māori language becoming an official language under legislation in 1987 and the establishment of the Māori Language Commission known today as Te Taura Whiri. Their work to date to raise the profile of te reo māori is just as important today as it was yesteryear. To help celebrate 40 years of Kōhanga Reo, Te Taura Whiri has sent gift packs to every Kōhanga Reo which should be arriving over the next few days. Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust would like to thank Te Taura Whiri, Ngahiwi Apanui Te Tumu Whakahaere o Te Taura Whiri and your team for the gifts and distributing them to all our Kōhanga Reo whānau. Once each Kōhanga Reo receives the rauemi, it would be great if you could show your appreciation by taking a photo and sending back to us at comms@kohanga.ac.nz Please note photos will be published. Register your interest to attend an Edge training session online. Please send any queries related to Edge to support@edgelearning.co.nz. If you have any kōrero or feedback on our pānui please feel free to send to comms@kohanga.ac.nz. |
