Change to Petone to Melling construction plans this Christmas - New Year holiday
Our work around the rail line near Normandale Bridge, planned for the coming holiday period, will be different than we previously advised.
Between Christmas and New Year we will complete preliminary work that will enable construction of our planned underpass beneath the rail line. We will return later in the year to complete the rest of the underpass work. This change will not delay completion of the Petone to Melling project.
One lane on Parliament Street in Lower Hutt will be closed during the work, from Boxing Day for approximately one week. There will also be restrictions to on-street parking during this time. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
From Christmas Day, 25 December, to 5 January, train services will be replaced by buses across the Metlink train network. For more information on train services please visit the Metlink website.
