Sydney's very first coastal amusement park opened at Tamarama in 1887. Officially named The Royal Aquarium and Pleasure Grounds, it soon became known as Bondi Aquarium and was nestled into Fletcher's Glen at Tamarama Beach. A rollercoaster, skating rinks and a tiger shark were just some of the attractions waiting for the crowds. The entertainment also featured daring deeds with tightrope walkers, parachuters and sword fighting. The park continued to thrive until it was sold in 1906 to William Anderson, who would transform the aquarium into Wonderland City.
