"Being Present" as Our Gift to the World Happy Holidays! I hope your month of December is going well so far. At the BK studio, we celebrated the milestone of hosting holiday opening hours with a small group of our local customers last weekend. Our customers and our team talked about how much we missed the time together, the experience of seeing artifacts in-person and feeling the energy directly from them by picking up and relating to them physically. Time shared with our community was a beautiful gift. The in-person interactions I shared during the event made me think of many relationships we hold and how we relate to the people around us and our inner self, artifacts we choose to surround ourselves with, and all the elements of the natural world. Especially in the gift-giving season, it’s easy to get swept away by the material world. However, I hope that we, collectively, slow down a bit and take our time to shine the gift of connection during this tender time of the year. We love the saying, “the best gift we can give to one another is our presence.” In this love letter, Trina shares her advice on how to communicate better to create more unity. A.C. writes about their ever-evolving relationships with their analogue world. Heather gives us a glimpse into her JIYU notebook, which facilitates her creative process. Lastly, Frido talks about an insight from his Creative Strategies book to gently encourage you to open a new door for your future self. For our family, holiday months feel a lot slower than they did two years ago before the pandemic. Even though we have a slightly more active schedule than last year, we are making conscious family decisions to create space for togetherness. It’s not perfect, but it’s intentional:) From this place of intention, I send many warm thoughts to you and your loved ones during this holiday season and beyond. -wakako always a work in progress...
