More than 8,500 students will receive their degrees, diplomas and certificates during Western's spring convocation ceremonies. Western News celebrates the Class of 2024 by highlighting the inspiring journey's of our graduates.

Retiree receives fourth degree

With a constant desire to learn post-retirement, Paul Hansen, 77, will graduate with his fourth Western degree on June 21. This will be his toughest one yet – a doctorate in law.  

Reigniting a love of nursing

Driven by a passion for intensive care and the desire to provide a better future for her daughter, Janet Lee pursued Western's compressed 19-month BScN program to become an RN and found a renewed love for nursing. 

Nurturing innovation at Western Research Parks

Founded and led by Western graduates, PolyAnalytik plays a critical role in testing medical stents and advancing technologies across various industries. The company is one of 53 businesses sharing resources at Western Research Parks, an innovation hub where connections, collaboration and innovation are at the forefront.

Join colleagues in exploring what can happen when education is shaped by both human history and the history of the Earth. This series brings together two compelling events where people can come together to share ideas on teaching and create new things without harming nature.
