Funding of up to $100,000 for events and festivals availableTo increase economic activity in the city, AEDA and the City of Adelaide (CoA) have established the Strategic Events Fund. It offers two categories of funding to assist in the staging of events that drive visitation, economic activity and vibrancy in the CBD and North Adelaide. The categories include new events that can receive up to $100,000 in funding, or the expansion of existing events that can receive up to $50,000. It is open to not-for-profits, individuals, sole traders and businesses. Applications close on Friday 31 March 2023 at 5:00 pm. Spruce up your shopfront with a new grant of up to $10,000Small businesses, organisations and property owners can apply for a citywide Shopfront Improvement Grant. It can be used to enhance the presentation of a building or business, contribute to customer amenity or make a creative contribution to the streetscape. Funding is available for up to 80 per cent of the total project cost, to a maximum of $10,000 per applicant. It is the second round of Shopfront Improvement Grants this year. Applications close Monday 15 August 2022 at 4:00 pm. Vacant shopfronts can be transformed into pieces of art to attract prospective tenants and bring vibrancy to retail areas. There is no cost to be a part of the program. Melbourne Street among top performing city mainstreetsMelbourne Street has one of the lowest vacancy rates across the city, new data analysed by AEDA shows. New figures revealed that 140 of 148 shopfronts were currently occupied along Melbourne Street — a 5.4 per cent vacancy rate. Gouger Street also had a 5.4 per cent vacancy rate, reaffirming it is one of the CBD's top performing mainstreets.
