Troy A. Miller Elected as NRB President & CEO

NRB announced this week the election of Troy A. Miller as the association’s new President & CEO! Miller was unanimously elected by the NRB Board of Directors on July 12 after being vetted by the presidential search committee and later selected by the NRB Executive Committee.

Serving as interim CEO of NRB since March 2019, Miller’s professional background spans more than 30 years of management and business experience. Under his leadership, which began during a period of financial crisis, NRB has recaptured a strong financial position, grown its membership, and significantly enhanced programming, networking, equipping, sponsorship, and exhibition aspects of NRB’s annual convention.

NRB Asks FCC to Reexamine Fees, Mitigate Impact of Rate Hike 

NRB filed reply comments this week in response to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) concerning regulatory fees for fiscal year 2022 (FY 2022).

NRB noted that the FCC’s annual FY 2022 regulatory fee proposal included a staggering 13 percent rate hike in fees on licensees, despite enlarging the Commission’s budget by only 2.1 percent. 

Concurring with earlier comments filed by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), NRB urged the FCC to reexamine its fee rationale, unburden broadcasters from the costs of broadband-related FCC activities, and exercise its discretion to mitigate the impact of a substantial fee increase.

ICVM Crown Awards to Be Held at #NRB2023

Congratulations to Paul Sirmons, NRB member and member of the Film Committee, who now serves as president of International Christian Visual Media (ICVM)!

ICVM, a non-profit association of Christian filmmakers, presents the longest-running Christian media awards in the nation. The 50^th Annual ICVM Crown Awards will recognize the best in independent Christian cinema, TV, documentaries, student films, shorts, music videos, and more.

Five finalists per category will be announced at the ICVM Storytellers Conference, held November 16-19, 2022 in Orlando, Florida. Winners will be recognized at the ICVM Crown Awards Ceremony at the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, Florida, May 22-25, 2023.
