SH22 Glenbrook Roundabout starting to take shape

Construction underway on SH22 Glenbrook Roundabout

Construction of the SH22 Glenbrook Roundabout is now well underway, and work is progressing at pace. The site offices have now been established and accessways for construction vehicles will open this week.
The project team has stripped away 1850m3 of topsoil and 1850m3 of clay and the shape of the new roundabout and approach lanes are starting to take shape.

Temporary road widening

You may have noticed that we have started work on the temporary road widening on the SH22 end of Paerata Road. Once this work is complete, traffic will be moved across while we continue to work on the roundabout and approach lanes.
To ensure the safety of our workers and all road users, temporary steel safety barriers will be installed along the construction site and a temporary 50km/h speed limit will be in place for this stretch of road.

Glenbrook Road closure this Sunday

Glenbrook Road will be closed between Charles Road and State Highway 22 from 7am – 6pm on Sunday 2 May 2021. This will allow us to carry out noisy work during the day, rather than at night when it may disrupt local residents.
A detour will be in place via Charles Road, Stan Wright Road and Batty Road which will add approximately 10 minutes. Access to SH22 will be via Blackbridge Road.
This may impact travel times so please plan your journey accordingly and allow extra time for travel. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Karaka Road passing lane

In the next month, the passing lane on Karaka Road will also close to ensure the safety of all road users.  Further details will be communicated once we have a confirmed timeframe.

Community open day

We will be holding a Community open day on Saturday 8 May from 2pm-4pm at Rise and Shine Café Paerata Rise. Drop in and meet the project team and learn more about the new roundabout.
