Bondi Mermaids
The Bondi mermaids sat on their rocky throne at Ben Buckler for many years, keeping watch over the water and the waves. The mermaids' tumultuous history includes guerrilla art installation, theft, storm damage and disappearing statues. The remaining mermaid, Jan, now lives in Waverley Library.
Mermaid woman story
This is Jan, who joined up to Waverley Library recently and has already been making use of our free Tech Help sessions.
In 1960, Jan was one of the women on whom the famous Bondi Mermaid sculptures were modelled. Jan’s been able to use our Tech Help sessions to get one-to-one assistance from library staff in turning her amazing collection of personal photos from this era into a hardcover photo book. Jan says that the help she’s received from the library has been wonderful and she plans on telling all of her friends about us.
If you help improving your skills with the internet or digital devices, contact us on 9083 8733 to book an hour-long Tech Help session, and we’d be more than happy to assist.
