MAY 2023

GRS plasma

The latest update from Gencoa focusses on upcoming events in USA, including SVC TechCon, one of the highlights of the calendar for organisations involved in thin film coating. This year's meeting is being held in Washington, D.C., and the final conference program includes a series of presentations covering products and technology developed by Gencoa.

Gencoa's active anode is the technology focus for May, and we have a short video summarizing a selection of the key product benefits.

Gencoa will be well-represented at next week's SVC TechCon, with a team of expert staff in attendance at one of the biggest annual events within the vacuum coating industry.

The two-day technology exhibit begins on May 9. Visit us at booth 608 to discuss our range of vacuum components covering every stage of the coating process, with exhibited products including the powerful Optix gas analysis tool, the VACGAS-G16 chalcogen-based gas sensing instrument, and the popular Speedflo reactive process controller.

At the supporting conference, held between Monday 8 and Thursday 11 May, a team of export staff from Gencoa are scheduled to present talks. A full listing of Gencoa presentations is shown below.

ICMCTF 2023

In collaboration with partners Nano4Energy, Gencoa will be represented in San Diego at the 2023 International Conference on Metallurgical Coatings and Thin Films (ICMCTF), organised annually by AVS.

Focussing on thin film deposition, characterization, and advanced surface engineering, the show runs from May 21 to May 26, with the exhibition held on May 23 (12:00-7:00pm) and May 24 (10:00am-2:00pm).

Gencoa Business Development Manager Dr Erik Cox will join Nano4Energy at booth 219 to discuss products and services supplied by Gencoa, along with demonstrations of the Optix gas sensor.

Gencoa Optix
Gencoa Active Anode

Gencoa active anodes provide a long-term stable plasma support for rotatable magnetron operation, improving DC, pulsed DC & MF processes from single or dual cathodes.

The patented method provides an effective means to collect the electrons escaping the rotatable magnetron plasma by forming a closed trap to guide the electrons to the anode and preventing the plasma spreading away from the target area towards the substrate. The benefits include: reduced substrate temperature and coating damage, longer campaigns in specification, denser/more uniform coatings, and lower coating stress.

A short video highlighting a selection of the product benefits can be viewed on the Gencoa YouTube channel or by clicking on the image below.
