Understanding Color Temperature (Kelvin)

“Kelvin” a term used to measure the color of light.  While the Kelvin scale runs from 1000-10000k, typically the numbers we most often see when illuminating letters fall between 2700k and 7500k.   Below, you can see how the color temperature gradually goes from warm too cool.

What does Kelvin (K) value mean?

  • Kelvin is the measure of light ranging from warm to cool white.
  • Typical range for LED modules is 2700K  to 7500K, bright white being the most commonly asked for.
  • 5000K is Natural White and all K values below that are considered Warm White.
  • Not all module sizes are available in choices of K values, check with your Project Manager.
