Read Discuss “Verse 5 says, ‘Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.’ We are to be thinking as Jesus does.” “Verse 7 tells us Jesus humbled Himself to be a servant. We should, too. If we see that Jesus did this it helps us to be cheerful and willing.” “Verse 8 says He humbled Himself and became obedient. It is humbling to be obedient, but Jesus wants us to be humble. The opposite of being humble is
pride. Not being obedient shows pride.” (verses 9-11) “What was Jesus’ reward for being obedient, even to death on the cross? (God exalted, honored Him; gave Him a name above all others; proclaimed that all would bow before Him and confess Him to be Lord; God the Father would be glorified.) Have children copy the following Scripture references and read them again on their own. Encourage them to think about the Scriptures carefully as they read them.
