There has been a steady decline in case numbers recently, with 12,020 cases reported yesterday. Although this is a promising sign, estimates suggest that case numbers are far higher than what has been reported. While the Omicron variant may not be as severe as other forms of Covid, it is far more transmissible and has resulted in more deaths. In terms of vaccine mandates, we cannot forecast what the Government will decide, but Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust still supports vaccinations for the health and wellbeing of Kaimahi, Kaumātua, and Whānau. Being vaccinated and boosted is still a positive choice for whānau. Anei te Kōhanga Reo o Te Kaahui kei Pōneke and their whakaaro on vaccination. Kia haumaru whānau. Temporary Medical Exemptions from Booster Requirements The Ministry of Health (MoH) has updated the process for those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 and are seeking a temporary exemption to the booster requirement. It is recommended that you wait three months after infection to get your booster. For more information on boosters, visit the MoH website. Temporary Changes to Funding Subsidies The MoE has made some changes in the current funding period to support Kōhanga Reo and ECE whose staffing levels and attendance have been impacted by Omicron. You can review these changes and the current funding settings here. Protection of Funding Bands for Kōhanga Reo Funding band protection has been guaranteed for all quality-funded home-based education and care services, Kōhanga Reo, and playcentres. Services that were on the quality rate on 1 February 2022 will remain on the quality rate for the February to May period. From 1 June 2022, a new funding period will start, and the usual rates will apply. Improvements for users experiencing issues viewing parts of their screen We know some of you have been having trouble seeing part of your screen if you’ve zoomed in your browser beyond a certain percentage. Right now, you can improve your experience in Smartly by zooming in and out using your keyboard. Just press Ctrl - to zoom out and Ctrl + to zoom in. We’re in the process of making the screen size respond automatically, and the ‘Leave requests’ screen, found under ‘Run a pay’ is now complete. This means when you open a leave request with your screen zoomed in, you’ll now be able to edit, approve or decline the request with no issues.
