New Returns and Earn Bin Baskets Installed Across Lane Cove

Lane Cove Council has installed 20 Return and Earn bin baskets on public bins to keep eligible bottles and cans out of landfill.

The baskets are attached to Council bins at high-traffic sports grounds and public spaces so that people can leave their drink containers for other community members to easily collect and recycle at a nearby Return and Earn Facility for the 10c refund.

Grants for Energy and Climate Upgrades for Sports Clubs

The Federal Government is providing $35.3 million over two funding rounds to help local sports clubs take climate action and futureproof their facilities. Clubs can apply for funding for projects that:

· Install energy efficient technologies (such as batteries)
· Improve shade and drainage systems
· Enhance resilience to extreme weather events

Applications are open from 1 July and close on 28 July.

Want 3 Hours of FREE Energy a Day?

NSW residents with a smart electricity meter can opt in for the Solar Sharer Offer (SSO) through their energy provider and receive 3 hours of free electricity during the day from 1 July.

The program is designed to stabilise the grid when solar generation is at its highest, while also helping renters and homeowners alike with the cost of living.

Chat to your energy provider to confirm your eligibility and opt in to the scheme.

Renting? Help Shape the Energy Decisions That Affect You

Join CSIRO’s Living Lab to gain insights into your energy use, and how you may be able to save. Your involvement will help government and energy suppliers develop policies and products to better suit renters.

The CSIRO Living Lab consists of real households around Australia, sharing their energy information and views on energy issues like:

· How rooftop solar can be fair for everyone, including renters and people in apartments
· How homes and apartments can become more energy efficient to reduce bills
· How can people at all income levels can benefit from the energy transition

Call For Stallholders for Annual Sustainability Lane

Sustainability Lane is part of Rotary Fair, Lane Cove’s biggest annual event, which welcomed around 18,000 attendees in 2025.

Lane Cove Council is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from those who would like to be a stallholder.

If you are a community group or business looking to engage with the community about your sustainable product or service, submit your Expression of Interest on our website today.

This volunteer Bushcare group is on the Lane Cove Golf course and is a place which has been left untouched for an exceptionally long time. Working here is part of our push to improve the natural environment of the golf course, which has enormous potential as natural habitat for native animals.
