NIGHT WORKS ON SH20B from SUNDAY 21 JUNE 2020
Kia ora,
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and Auckland International Airport are working to upgrade State Highway 20B to provide better and more reliable travel options with a new shared path and additional priority lanes between Pukaki Creek Bridge and State Highway 20.
Our normal working hours for the SH20B project are between 7am and 5pm from Monday to Saturday. However, due to time lost as a result of Covid-19 and to honour our commitment to timely completion of the project by early next year we are expanding our working hours into the night.
The night works will also ease pressure off the network, minimise disruption during peak hours and offer a safer working environment for construction staff.
Beginning Sunday 21 June 2020 SH20B between SH20 and Pukaki Creek Bridge will be closed to through traffic for the night works. Please follow the posted detour signs on SH20B.
Road closures will operate from Sunday to Thursday between 9pm at night and 4am in the morning. The road will remain open to people on foot and people on bikes.
If this work is delayed due to weather or any unexpected road conditions it will roll to the next fine night. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience and will use best industry practices to minimise disruption.
For more information on the SH20B project and weekly updates on the planned night work, please visit www.nzta.govt.nz/projects/southwest-gateway/20connect.
As a live construction site, the speed limit is 50km/h. Please drive with care and watch out for people on foot and on bikes.
Safety
Please note that when crews are working near the road, the speed limit will be 50kph. Please drive safely and allow extra time for your journey.
