Ready to learn and thrive: school health and nutrition around the world

UNESCO

This report brings together, for the first time, multiple data sources to provide a global overview of school health and nutrition policies and programmes, showing that these are a practical and affordable way to support learners’ well-being and development. For example, over 100 countries have school vaccination programmes, one in two primary schoolchildren receives school meals, and almost every country includes education for health and well-being in its curriculum.

A space of their own: What we have learned about Girls’ Clubs

The Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC)

This report has compiled a wealth of project learning regarding key interventions related to girls’ education. While these Learning Briefs are rooted in both quantitative and qualitative evidence, they are not research papers or evidence reports. Rather, they provide a synthesis of learning from GEC intervention
designs and implementation approaches that have been paramount in supporting improvements in girls’ learning.

Equity and inclusion in education: finding strength through diversity

OECD

This report supports the view that equity and inclusion in education systems are approached holistically, building on their interdependencies to generate complementarities and prevent inconsistent objectives.

Education in Africa: placing equity at the heart of policy; continental report

UNESCO Office Dakar and Regional Bureau for Education in Africa & African Union

The report explores how these factors impact a child’s access to quality learning. It highlights the importance of addressing barriers to inclusion through actions such as making secondary education compulsory, building more schools, developing adapted curricula, improving the quality of teachers, and providing financial and academic assistance to children. The report aims to provide African governments with guidelines and advice as they try to overcome these challenges.

Diversity and STEM: Women, Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities

National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics

This report found that Innovation and creativity, along with technical skills relying on expertise in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), contribute to a robust STEM enterprise. Furthermore, STEM workers have higher median earnings and lower unemployment rates than non-STEM workers. This report provides high-level insights from multiple data sources into the diversity of the STEM workforce in the United States.

Future of Education

Google

The report discusses how the future is shaping up to look radically different from today. As educators work to equip students with the skills and mindsets, they’ll need to navigate massive change and prepare for a new future, the educational experts we interviewed discussed how and why they’re rethinking the role of education.

We believe no child should be constrained by stereotypes or the expectations of others. We know that if young people hear firsthand about the world of work, they work harder, get better grades and are more likely to break down barriers.

They should have the chance to start as early as possible, and that is why we launched the national I am #InspiringTheFuture campaign.
