Right turn ban now in place from Coatesville/Riverhead Highway onto SH16

As you will have noticed, work to implement a right turn ban from Coatesville Riverhead Highway onto SH16 has been underway for the last week.

From Wednesday 11 May the right turn lane from Coatesville Riverhead Highway onto SH16 is now closed and the above detour will be in place for right turning traffic.

This is an interim solution and we know that it will not solve all of the issues in this area, which is why we remain focused on delivering the permanent improvements as quickly as we can.

We thank you for your patience and understanding while we have carried out this important safety improvement and look forward to this making a difference on one of the most high-risk rural roads in the country.

Stage 2 Safety Improvements

Over the last few weeks we have been speaking with landowners about how their property may be affected and to hear their feedback. This has been going well and will continue over the next month. Once the design has been confirmed following landowner engagement, we aim to lodge a consent application with Auckland Council in late 2022.
