Parents newsletter - April 2026The final stretch to the end of the winter term can be stressful for students. If your student needs support, encourage them to use Carleton’s wide range of wellness resources and utilize academic services such as the Centre for Student Academic Support, the Wellness Service Navigator and more.Important Dates and Deadlines Fri. April 3 and Sun. April 5, 2026: Good Friday and Easter Sunday. University closed. Wed. April 8, 2026: Winter term ends. Sat. April 11, to Thurs. April 23, 2026: Final examinations in full winter, late winter and fall/winter term courses. Sat. April 25, 2026: Summer term payment deadline. End of Winter Term Resources As the end of the winter term approaches and the exam period draws near, there are many resources available to help your student academically and beyond. The Carleton community is here to support your student. Please encourage your student to use the resources available and to reach out to their friends and the Carleton network for support. The Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS) team offers support at any stage of the writing process and can help create a study plan for finals. Your student can book an appointment or drop in. Please note the last day of drop-ins is Thurs. April 9, 2026. Reminder: Classes Continue on Easter Monday As a reminder, Good Friday (Fri. April 3, 2026) and Easter Sunday (Sun. April 5, 2026) are holidays, and the university is closed. The university is open and classes run as scheduled on Mon. April 6, 2026. Health and Counselling Services Closed Easter Monday Health and Counselling Services will be closed on Mon. April 6, 2026. Regular hours resume on Tues. April 7, 2026. Student Experience Questionnaires Now Available Student Experience Questionnaires are available until Wed. April 8, 2026. Summer Term Registration Open Registration for the summer session is now open for all students. The summer session is a great time for your student to catch up or get ahead on their studies Residence Applications: Summer and Returning Students Is your student planning to stay in Ottawa this summer? Are they a returning student looking for housing for the upcoming academic year? Residence at Carleton offers convenience, community and scenic campus views. Applications to live in residence for the summer 2026 term and 2026-2027 academic year are now open.
Innovative Eating Disorder and Substance Use Counsellor Model: Expanding Equitable, Scalable Campus Mental Health Care Eating disorder and substance use supports will be expanded on campus as Carleton’s Health and Counselling Services has received grant funding. The project will introduce specialized counsellors, expand group supports and develop a new learning module to help students access early, stigma-free support. Your Student can Explore 190+ Job Postings on the Job Board Is your student looking for a summer job or getting ready to graduate? The Career Services Job Board (your student can access via mySuccess) lists full-time, new grad, summer, part-time and internship roles across a wide range of industries. New postings are added every week and there are currently more jobs than usual, so it’s a great time for job seekers to start applying! Is Your Student Thinking about Entrepreneurship? They Can Build Something Real The Nicol Interns & Ventures program at Carleton is supporting students interested in entrepreneurship and early-stage ventures. Students from all faculties are invited to complete a short survey and learn about upcoming information sessions designed to help them explore business ideas, access mentorship and develop innovative projects. Interested students are also invited to complete a short survey.
Is Your Student’s Course Registered With the Incentive Program? Is your student’s course registered with the Incentive Program? All of the Centre for Student Academic Success (CSAS) learning and writing workshops are available asynchronously on Brightspace. Students can self-enrol any time via the Online Resources page. For course-specific requirements (e.g., topics, deadlines), your student can refer to their course outline or contact their instructor. Direct-from-Bachelor to PhD Pathway Graduate Studies is offering outstanding undergraduate students the opportunity to enter directly into a PhD program beginning in fall 2026. In this initial approved phase, participating programs include Biology, Building Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering and Physics.
