Our Own CGRS-Master’s Scholarship Information Session
Graduate Studies is hosting a virtual information session about the CGRS-Master’s Scholarship Competition on Nov. 12. This session will provide an overview of the eligibility criteria, application process, and key timelines. Following the presentation, there will be an open Q&A period for attendees to ask questions and receive guidance on preparing a strong application.

Use Carleton Mobile App to Stay Informed
A reminder to get connected and stay connected with Carleton Mobile, Carleton’s official mobile app for current students.

Through a Global Lens Competition
The annual photography competition is back. This year’s theme is “Everyday Life,” highlighting daily routine or candid moments that reflect local peaceful life. Visit the GO-ISSO website for competition rules and the submission form.

UHIP for International Students
The University Health Insurance Plan is mandatory for all international students studying or working at Carleton. You would have received an email from Cowan (check spam/junk folders) with details on how to access your UHIP e-card.  All plan details at www.uhip.ca and www.carleton.ca/go-isso/uhip. If you have the Ontario Health Insurance Plan or other provincial insurance, UHIP is not required! Nov. 7
Last day to withdraw from late fall term courses with a full fee adjustment (financial withdrawal).

Nov. 15

  • Last day to request formal exam accommodations for December full fall, late fall, and fall/winter examinations to the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities.

  • Last day for academic withdrawal from full fall and late fall courses.

Nov. 25
Winter Payment Deadline

Nov. 28
Last day for graduate students to submit their supervisor-approved thesis in examinable form to the department if defending their thesis this term and applying for Winter graduation.

Nov. 30
Deadline for students to apply for Winter graduation. (Carleton University cannot guarantee approval of Winter 2026 graduation applications submitted after the Nov. 30 deadline. A non-refundable fee of $60.00 will apply to all late applications.)

These sessions will be hosted as live Q&A MS teams meetings. Before attending a session, participants must read the relevant program description, watch the tutorial videos on the NSERC YouTube channel and come prepared with questions.

Participants are welcome to attend any of the sessions. Registration is not required to attend a session.

REMINDER: Tri-Council Agencies deadline for master's programs is Dec. 1!

 

 

Health and Counselling Services: Open Group Sessions

Crafting Your Calm – Mindfulness Stress Relief
A unique therapy group blending creativity and mindfulness to help reduce stress. When: Mondays monthly (Nov. 10 and Dec. 1) from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Where: CTTC Building, Room 1501. 

Queer Support Group
When: Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 6, Nov. 20, and Dec 4.

2025 CU-PSAC Postdoctoral Fellow Research Award Competition
Compete, showcase, and be recognized! This competition celebrates Carleton’s most outstanding Postdoctoral Fellows. Up to 12 successful applicants will compete in presenting their research to a general audience. Five winners will each receive $1,350 for research or professional development. Deadline is Nov. 10. Philosophy Colloquium: A Theory of Sense-Data

The Department of Philosophy’s next colloquium is taking place on Friday, Oct. 31 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Richcraft Hall, Room 3110. Prof. Andrew Lee will be presenting A Theory of Sense-Data.

FPGA Student EDI Research Award

The Faculty of Public and Global Affairs (FPGA) Student EDI Research Award celebrates outstanding student projects that advance equity, diversity, and inclusion in research. Open to all eligible undergraduate and graduate students in the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs, the award highlights work that promotes inclusive knowledge and practice.

Multidisciplinary Approaches in Language Policy and Planning Conference

The 2026 LPP Conference will be organized jointly between Carleton University (Department of French, School of Linguistics and Language Studies) and the University of Ottawa (Faculty of Arts, Research Chair in Language Policy and the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI)). The conference will be held from June 17 to June 19, 2026.

The Call for papers for our next Conference is now open! You have until Nov. 15 to submit an abstract.

Carleton Communications Graduate Caucus 2026 Graduate Student Conference

The Carleton Communications Graduate Caucus (CGC) is calling for proposals for their annual conference to be held from March 5 to 6, 2026 at Carleton. The CGC conference is an exciting opportunity for graduate students to present their work to an audience, receive valuable feedback from various research communities, and foster their own professional development. The 2026 conference theme is, Flux: Communication in a Rapidly Changing World. 

Application period: Deadline for proposal submissions is Nov. 15.

National Student Paper Competition

The National Student Paper Competition is an opportunity for Canadian graduate students to analyze current Government of Canada priorities and recommend innovative solutions to senior officials and submissions are now open! 

Application period: Oct. 8, 2025 to Jan. 30, 2026.

The Department of Equity and Inclusive Communities is introducing an online multifaith calendar highlighting religious days of observance across Carleton’s diverse community. This resource aims to assist in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, while supporting the planning of events, meetings and religious accommodations. Shannon Lecture #4: This is not my story, but yours: The Russ Moses residential school memoir

The Department of History is hosting this hybrid event on Nov. 3 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre and online.

Written in 1965, the Russ Moses residential school memoir describes the circumstances and conditions which the author encountered while attending the Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School in Brantford, Ontario, under exceptionally severe wartime and immediate post-war conditions from 1942 to 1947.

Author Meets Readers | Overseen or Overlooked?

On Thursday, Nov. 6, join the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs for Author Meets Readers for a discussion on the book, Overseen or Overlooked? by authors Philippe Lagassé, Stephen M. Saideman and David P. Auerswald.

This book explores the similarities and differences among the world’s democracies in how legislatures influence civil-military relations.
