Following damage from last week's weather, further works will be required on Croisilles Road near Goat Hill, prior to Okiwi Bay where a road retreat was completed. Works will be undertaken when weather conditions allow. Due to crews being diverted to prioritise weather response works, planned works on Croisilles-French Pass Road for a road retreat and gully fill will resume next week. Minor finishing works are being completed at the road retreat, on Croisilles-French Pass Road, 1.5km before the Elaine Bay Road intersection. This week an AC bund was constructed. Line marking and minor finishing works will be completed when weather allows under stop/go traffic management. The crew will move to Elaine Bay Road, to undertake drainage works later this month. Temporary access around the large slip approximately 2km from the start of Northbank Road was achieved for resident and emergency service access on Wednesday 2 July until 6pm. Due to the instability of the slip, the road has reclosed and will remain so, until it is deemed safe to reopen. The site continues to be monitored by geotechnical engineer. Updates to the status of the road will be sent via Antenno. Marlborough Roads engineers estimate around 3,000m3 of earth has come down, with large rocks causing projectile hazards. The slip is still on the move and any rain is likely exacerbate its movement. The top of the slip is some 30 metres above the road. |
