Unveiling the upgraded Djerring Centre
Formerly known as the Collingwood Seniors Centre, the Djerring Centre is a newly-upgraded gathering place available to hire for formal and semi-formal functions, workshops and general meetings. We've renamed the vibrant Abbotsford space to honour First Nations culture in Yarra and better reflect the purpose of the venue. The name Djerring (pronounced “jerr-ing”) means "joining and uniting together”. It aligns with our Yana Ngargna Plan, emphasising the visibility and recognition of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people's culture, issues and achievements in Yarra.
More ways we're taking climate action
You told us you wanted climate action and we listened! Last night, Council resolved to ban fossil fuel advertising on all venues and facilities owned by the City of Yarra. Just like alcohol, tobacco and gambling ads, fossil fuel advertising will be banned on all Council property. The ban will be phased in sensibly as commercial agreements expire.
