In Memoriam: Dr. James Dobson

Few voices have spoken more clearly or consistently into the heart of the Christian home than Dr. James Dobson. Across decades of radio broadcasts, books, and public witness, he encouraged parents, strengthened marriages, and reminded believers that family is a gift entrusted by God.

On August 21, 2025, Dr. Dobson entered his eternal rest at the age of 89. While we mourn his passing, we also give thanks for the extraordinary influence of his life and ministry.

“James Dobson inspired Christians from every walk of life to pursue excellence in family life and used his influence to highlight some of the most significant cultural issues impacting the family,” said Troy A. Miller, NRB president & CEO. “Most importantly, he equipped countless believers to build godly marriages, strong families, and lasting legacies. His profound vision and the organizations he founded will continue to shape generations to come.”

National Radio Day: How the Gospel Found Its Voice on the Airwaves

When radio first emerged in the early 1920s, it was met with both fascination and uncertainty. The thought that voices and music could travel invisibly through the air seemed almost otherworldly. Some hailed it as a marvel of modern science; others regarded it with skepticism, unsure of its lasting value or potential risks.

For Christians, radio quickly proved to be more than a technological achievement. It was a modern mission field. Pastors and evangelists recognized that if radio could carry news and entertainment into homes across America, it could also carry the hope of the Gospel. Their willingness to embrace the medium not only shaped the future of religious broadcasting but also laid the groundwork for the entire field of Christian media.

NRB Member Webinar | How Christian Communicators Can Reclaim the Mental Health Narrative

Today, America is facing a mental health crisis unlike anything we’ve seen before. And while some in the church deny the reality of mental illness, the secular world often claims God has no place in mental health conversations.

In this exclusive NRB member webinar, journalist and author Carrie Sheffield will explore how Christian communicators can push back on harmful narratives about mental health and point people to biblical truth and healing found in Christ.

Friday, August 29 at 11:00 a.m. CT / 12:00 p.m. ET

  • Featuring Carrie Sheffield, bestselling author, Harvard-trained policy analyst, and award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, TIME, and more.
  • Hosted by Allie da Silva, senior communications strategist at NRB.

Drawing from her own journey, Carrie will:

  • Share how her personal story shapes her approach to mental health.
  • Unpack the statistics and cultural trends driving today’s crisis.
  • Equip you with practical ways to tell mental health stories from a biblical perspective.
  • Provide vetted sources and contacts for your reporting.

This webinar equips Christian communicators to speak into mental health with clarity, compassion, and conviction—pointing audiences away from the labels of this world and toward their truest identity in the Great I Am.
